Acclaimed actress and former beauty queen Maria Halle Berry became the first African-American woman to win an Academy Award for her performance in Monster’s Ball. After winning multiple beauty pageants during her early teens, the raven-haired beauty started her modeling career, which led her to a role in 1989’s television series Living Dolls.
As an actress, Berry has received acclaim following her roles in X-Men, Catwoman, Swordfish, Die Another Day, Cloud Atlas, and Kidnap. In 2020, she also made her directorial debut in Bruised, a film based on martial arts and fighting. Her upcoming movies Moonfall and The Mothership are currently in production.
